Inasmuch as a county sheriff implements an alternative incarceration program, the county would incur costs to implement the program. Costs would vary based on the size of the county and number of incarcerated individuals in county jails. Some of this increased cost could be reduced due to the reduced number of days a person would be incarcerated in a county jail. For every day reduced of an individual's incarceration, a county would save $83.
