Enactment of this bill could increase total expenditures from the General Fund by $125,000 in FY 2027, $241,200 in FY 2028, $485,100 in FY 2029, $729,000 in FY 2030, and $845,600 in FY 2033 and each year thereafter. The savings breakdown is as follows: 1. Courts - $8,700 ongoing beginning in FY 2027 from case processing; 2. Department of Corrections - $114,000 in FY 2027, $228,000 in FY 2028, $469,600 in FY 2029, $711,200 in FY 2030, and $814,900 in FY 2033 ongoing when the bill's impact is in full effect; 3. Enactment of this bill could result in an ongoing fine revenue decrease by an estimated $2,900 beginning in FY 2027. Local government entities could experience the following estimated expenditure impacts beginning in FY 2027: 1. Prosecutors - $2,800 increase; 2. Public Defense - $20,200 increase; 3. County Jails - $0 error; 4. Local Justice Court - unknown increase.
Individuals cited for violations could pay up to $1,000 per case for an aggregated cost of $2,400 in fines and surcharge fees beginning in FY 2027.
