Enactment of this legislation could cost the Department of Transportation $630,000 one-time in FY 2027 from the Transportation Fund in capital costs for equipment, signs, and construction at the ten pilot intersection sites, and $105,000 one-time in FY 2027 from the Transportation Fund for labor. Enactment of this legislation could also cost the Department of Transportation $131,300 one-time in FY 2027 from the Transportation Fund for public education, and $52,500 ongoing from the Transportation Fund for ongoing maintenance.

Enactment of this legislation could increase revenues to local law enforcement entities by approximately $52 per instance of a vehicle owner not voluntarily remitting a fine, but who eventually does pay. This estimate assumes a fine of $130 per instance, the maximum amount allowed in the bill. This bill could also cost justice courts an unknown amount in court processing costs in instances when an individual disputes the fine.
